Edison School
An Intelligent Alternative
Middle School 4 - 7

The Middle School at Edison prides itself on accommodating the needs of the whole child by providing programs that stimulate creativity, challenge intellectual abilities and offer an eclectic range of physical skills and experiences.  Highly qualified teachers meet regularly to discuss the needs of each child in the Middle School.  Daily assemblies focus on communication of assignments and activities for that day.  One assembly per week is dedicated to celebration by honouring outstanding achievement, presenting Excellence Awards, celebrating birthdays and recognizing athletic performance.

The Middle School's focus on Outdoor Education helps the children to develop confidence in their own abilities, while enhancing awareness of the individual's place in preserving the natural world.  Survival, hiking, skiing, camping and other trips are planned throughout the year.

In the Middle School, passionate educators teach our academic classes.  Field trips and guest speakers are used to enhance the principles learned in the classroom.  Extra-curricular activities available for students' involvement include flag football, basketball, track & field, cross-country running and a world-class badminton program.  Other opportunities include participation in the Winter Production, Spelling Bee, Math contests, Art contests and Literary contests.  An annual sailing trip to the Gulf Islands with SALTS (Sail and Life Training Society) is also an exciting option.  We occasionally take the opportunity to travel abroad; in 2007 we traveled to Europe to celebrate the anniversary of Vimy Ridge.

At Edison, we foster an environment of acceptance and mutual respect, while focusing on academic achievement and personal growth.
