On Tuesday,
June 22nd, the Lower School is having an early Canada Day celebration! Students
are invited to wear red and white to celebrate our country’s birthday, and in
the spirit of celebration, we will be spending the afternoon outside soaking in
the sun and getting soaked in the sun. The school will provide water toys and
Chapman’s peanut free ice cream treats, but we are looking for a few brave
parents who are willing to lend us some kiddy pools for the afternoon. We also
welcome any parents who wish to volunteer, although we will already have ample
supervision. If you are able to do either of these things, please let your
child’s teacher know as soon as possible.
Please make
sure your child brings the following to school on this day:
o Sunscreen,
sunglasses, hat
o Bathing
suit
o Towel
o Shoes that
are okay to get wet (no flip flops, please)
o Water
bottle/juice
o Please do not send water guns or other
water toys.
If the
weather continues in its recent fashion, we will move the party indoors to the
gymnasium (minus the water toys, of course) for an afternoon of dancing and
games.
The Rotary
Club Soap Box Derby Race was held on June 5 in Okotoks. As part of the Grade 4
Science curriculum students built cars to enter the race. All students were
involved in constructing the cars but only a few were able to drive. The
drivers this year were: Aubrey Horbachewsky, Emiko Antal, Mckenna Geddes,
Shayne Tripp, Brendan Wagner, Sawyer Eirikson, Scott Martinson, and Justin
Lisoway. Parker Antal was also a driver for a sponsored car. Several drivers
received ribbons for winning the final heat and Emiko was given an award for
the most original costume. Thanks to all car sponsors and those who came to
support the drivers!
All library books are now due; there will be a $10 charge for any lost books.
